About

Steven Xu is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Statistics at North Carolina State University, researching under the direction of Brian Reich and Shu Yang. His thesis research focuses on developing Bayesian non-parametric models to solve quantile and density regression problems. He is also interested in applying these methods to estimate causal effects on quantiles. Prior to Ph.D. studies, he received a B.S. in Statistics from University of Washington in 2017.

Outside school, Steven works part-time as a machine learning intern at SAS Institute's IoT division, where he researches and develops anomaly detection algorithms for streaming data analytics.

In his free time, Steven enjoys playing with his two cats Frito and Lilac.
